The Schooners look to snap a two-game losing skid at home against the Westerners. Mystic enters the night with a 10-6 record, while Danbury comes to the Shipyard 5-10 on the summer.
The Schooners offense has been struggling as of late, stranding 20 baserunners in their past two games. Mystic is fresh off a devastating 9-1 loss to Bristol.
The Westerners also enter the matchup with a loss in their last contest. The Mainers took down Danbury 14-9 on Thursday evening.
Danbury has hit 14 long balls this season across 15 games, which is ranked third in the NECBL. Danbury’s pitching has caused issues so far this season, ranking 11th in the league in team ERA.
In their last meeting, the Schooners defeated the Westerners 6-3. Bryce Detwiler (UConn) went 2-3 at the plate with a RBI in the win.
Mystic’s probable starter is Mike Poncini (Georgetown). Poncini has pitched to a 2.45 ERA this summer across three starts. Poncini has struck out seven hitters in 11 innings.
First pitch from Ed Harvey Field is set for 6:35 pm.
