Mystic looks to snap a three-game losing streak on the road against the Ocean State Waves on Saturday, June 27. With the recent skid, the Schooners sit at 10-7 on the summer, which is still good for second in the NECBL South Division standings. The Waves sit at the bottom of the south with a 6-12 record.

The Schooners are coming off a three-game homestand, where Mystic was unable to muster a win. Mystic’s bats went quiet in the past three games, scoring six runs across the three contests. In their last three games, Mystic has left 26 men on base. On Friday night, the Schooners fell to the Westerners 4-3 in 10 innings.

The Waves come into the meeting also dropping their last three games. On Friday evening, Ocean State fell to the Gulls at Cardines Field. Newport took down the Waves by a 9-3 final score. The Waves struck out 12 times in the loss.

The Schooners' offensive struggles have dropped their team batting average to .230 ahead of the game, while the Waves rank fourth in the league with a .244 average.

In their last meeting, Mystic routed the Waves 10-1. The Waves struggled defensively, recording five errors on the game. Anthony Belisario (Portal) tallied a three-RBI game while Christian Butera (Brown) went 2-3 with two RBI. Mystic’s pitching was lights out in the meeting, allowing just three hits on the night.

The Schooners' probable starter is Chris Hernandez (CSF). The start will be Hernandez’s first start with the Schooners and the third of his collegiate career. The California native has made three appearances this summer, pitching to a 5.06 ERA across 5.1 innings pitched. Hernandez has fanned seven hitters while in a Schooners jersey. Hernandez pitched against the Waves earlier this season, where he was awarded the win after 1.1 innings, striking out two.

First pitch from Old Mountain Field is set for 6:30 p.m. Watch the live game broadcast on the HomeTeam Network.
