With the 2026 MLB Draft just around the corner, former Schooners’ names will be called. In the past two draft classes, 10 Schooners have been represented.
Back in 2024, four former Schooners were selected in the draft: Anthony Donofrio, Dominic Niman, Eddie Micheletti and Everett Catlett.
Anthony Donofrio
Donofrio, a 2022 Schooner, was selected in the 10th round of the draft by the Seattle Mariners out of the University of North Carolina. Donofrio hit .326 in his last season with the Tar Heels.
After 20 games in Low-A ball, Donofrio moved to the Everett AquaSox. In 149 games in the MiLB, Donofrio has hit .229 with 33 doubles and 10 long balls. This season with the AquaSox, Donofrio has swiped nine bags through 42 games played.
Dominic Niman
Niman spent the summer of 2022 in Mystic after two seasons at Central Connecticut State University. Niman was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 18th round of the 2024 draft, following a season at the University of Kentucky. Niman has early success in the minors, pitching to a 1.60 ERA in 2025 with the Charleston RiverDogs. This season, Niman has made three stops, ranging from Single-A to Triple-A. He has struck out 44 across 44 innings pitched in the 2026 season. Niman has recorded a 2.03 ERA in two minor league seasons.
Eddie Micheletti
Micheletti was selected in the eighth round of the draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2024. Micheletti was a 2022 Schooner. In 36 games with Mystic, Micheletti hit .236, before spending time in the MLB Draft League. Micheletti started his collegiate career with George Washington University and transferred to Virginia Tech for his final season. With the Cavs, Micheletti hit .311 with 12 homers and 50 RBI.
Micheletti is now with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In 2026, with the Fisher Cats, Micheletti has hit .243 with 10 home runs. In three minor league seasons, Micheletti has accumulated a .802 OPS.
Everett Catlett
Catlett was a 2023 Schooner and was selected in the 12th round of the 2024 draft by the Colorado Rockies. Catlett was dominant in Mystic, pitching to a sub-one ERA across 31.1 innings, while striking out 34 hitters.
Catlett spent his collegiate career at Georgetown University where he struck out 120 across 122 innings pitched.
Catlett is now with the Spokane Indians. In 194.1 innings pitched in the minor leagues, Catlett has struck out 206 batters. In 2026, Catlett has struck out 72 in 61 innings of work.
The Schooners continued to have successful draft picks in last year’s draft, with six selections.
Cody Miller
Miller was the 96th overall pick in the 2025 draft by the Atlanta Braves. In 13 games with Mystic, Miller hit .271 with two doubles and two home runs.
Miller hit .330 with 22 home runs in three seasons at East Tennessee State. Last summer, Miller spent the first half of the summer in the Cape Cod League before spending the rest of the summer season in Low and High-A ball.
In 2026 with the Augusta GreenJackets, Miller has hit five home runs since being moved to Augusta in 14 games.
Anthony DePino
DePino spent two seasons with Mystic before finding much success in the minor leagues. DePino was selected in the seventh round of the 2025 draft by the Chicago White Sox. The New Haven, Connecticut native played college ball at the University of Rhode Island, where he tallied an OPS above 1.000 and mashed 65 home runs. At URI, DePino broke the single-season home run record with 20 long balls in his senior season en route to earning Rawlings Second-Team All-American honors.
In less than a full season in the minor leagues, DePino was promoted to Double-A ball, before returning back to High-A ball with the Winston-Salem Dash. Across two seasons, DePino has hit .259 with 16 home runs.
Colton Shaw
Shaw, a 2023 Schooner, was the 212 overall pick in the 2025 draft by the Seattle Mariners. Shaw pitched 4.1 innings with Mystic and allowed just one hit.
Shaw accumulated 243 strikeouts across four seasons at Yale University. Shaw was named First-Team All-Ivy in 2025, leading the league in innings pitched.
Shaw has found success in the Mariners farm system, spending time between Low and High-A. Shaw has spent the entire 2026 season with the AquaSox and has tossed to a 3.79 ERA, striking out 60 hitters across 61.2 innings of work.
Jack Goodman
Goodman spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons in Mystic before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round. Goodman hit .307 his first season with the Schooners, before coming back for his second season at the Shipyard, where he knocked five home runs in the summer.
Goodman started his collegiate career on the west coast at Pepperdine University before transferring to Northeastern University. Goodman hit .328 in three seasons with the Huskies.
Goodman has spent the last two seasons with the Lakewood Flying Tigers. In 2025, Goodman hit .333 in 14 games and is in the midst of his first full minor league season.
Jonathan Gonzalez
Gonzalez spent 2022 in Mystic before he was drafted in the 14th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Gonzalez dealt a 2.20 ERA in 32.2 innings with the Schooners.
Gonzalez attended Stetson University where he fanned 263 hitters in 247.1 innings of work across four collegiate seasons.
Gonzalez is with the Single-A Clearwater Threshers but has recorded no minor league stats due to injury.
Reid Easterly
Easterly signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2025 as an undrafted free agent. Easterly spent 2021 and 2022 with Mystic. In his second season with the Schooners, Easterly pitched to a 1.33 ERA.
Easterly had much success in his first three years of college ball at Yale University before transferring to Duke University for his final year of eligibility. With the Blue Devils, Easterly pitched to a 3.04 ERA, striking out 66 hitters.
The southpaw tossed 4.2 innings in 2025 with the Modesto Nuts before starting his 2026 campaign with the Everett AquaSox. In 31.2 innings, Easterly has fanned 41.
